I came to CPX in 2010, on the heels of the “Great Recession” and into an industry that was generally downsizing. I specifically chose a university that offered an undergraduate degree in commercial real estate and recall in 2009, adjunct professors asking if we really wanted to stay the course given the situation – basically saying it wasn’t too late to switch. I knew at a young age this was the only industry for me, regardless of timing.
CPX had the vision and went against the herd, building the team instead of simply trying to weather the storm. I had the opportunity to help build our CPX database the old-fashioned way – driving markets. It may sound hard to believe but over the past few years I’ve driven over 30,000 miles, snapped 60,000 pictures and visited more than 440 cities in 7 states. I’ve quite literally been to every corner of our region; from Williston, ND to Brookings, OR and from Sheridan, WY to Soldotna, AK. When "cataloging" real estate by car didn’t make sense, I went by foot. I’ve logged more miles by foot than 10 full marathons in cities like Seattle, Portland, Bellevue, Tacoma, Spokane and Boise. I ultimately decided to move into brokerage after my knowledge-building years had peaked and, while you learn something new every day, knew there was more value to our clients if I could have more meaningful communication and relationships on direct level.
